Senior Instructor Ollie Batts conducted an Integrated Fighting Arts Seminar on Sunday 3rd March at St Bede's Gym in Cambridge. Twenty-eight people attended the 4 hour session which covered blade awareness, tactical and survival training.

Morgan Alexander, an Instructor at the Academy, recently competed in the European Savate Combat Championships and the World Savate Assaut Championships.

The finals of the European Combat were held in the mythic Cirque d'hiver in Paris in September. Morgan faced a determined and more experienced opponent in the F-70kg final, and came away with the title of vice-champion of Europe.

On Sunday 22nd July, Savate Cambridge held its Midsummer Open, supported by Cambridge Academy. Following on from the Training Seminar with Smael Mayouf (Saturday 21st July), this was an opportunity to take part in a friendly Savate Assaut competition. The event was open to savateurs from any club and included several weight categories for men, women, boys and girls.

We were honoured to welcome Smaël Mayouf to teach in Cambridge on a hot sunny day in July. Smaël is a true champion in both ability and manner, with the highest level technical skills. He has won French, European, and World Championship titles. The most recent being the European Savate Assaut Championships in 2017.

On October 2017, Maul Mornie returned to Cambridge Academy for a two day seminar covering aspects of the Silat Suffian Bela Diri system. Thirty CAMA members and friends attended the seminar. On the first day, Maul focussed on training with the knife for spatial awareness and perception of movement.
